Superfood, schmuperfood... I think they're totally over-rated myself. It may be something to do with my cruddy sinuses but to me blueberries taste of sugar water and old lady perfume. I've given them to Babybear and she always looked a bit disappointed after the first taste and chucked them away. They're too expensive to get chucked, as far as I'm concerned, and anyway they taste better in a muffin, I always think... must post the recipe some day.
We have had a blueberry breakthrough today, however, with a tub of frozen ones. (So much cheaper than fresh and presumably nutritionally just as super). Poor Babybear's teeth have been giving her agonies for the last week and she's a little bored with peas. She lapped them up, I tell you. And they actually tasted pretty good to me too.
Now, has anyone got any tips for removing blueberry stains?

My dh very helpfully suggests wearing blue clothes!
I might just try these with dd - she's very fickle with blueberries - sometimes loves, sometimes hates, though mostly squishes it in her mouth, takes it out and throws it, then asks for another - go figure. Along similar lines, when I was dieting, I used to freeze grapes to eat for a snack - these might go down well too, halved before freezing of course. Re: Re: Blueberries
I'd been thinking of experimenting with grapes. I've tried clementines but she didn't like them, i think because she couldn't comfortably get a whole piece into her mouth but her hand got cold holding onto them. so i was wondering if it might be the same with grapes? do keep me posted.

Grizzles loves blueberries, to the degree that I don't think there is a limit on the number she would eat. And the nappies...she actually has done blue poos, though to be fair I don't think you need to eat too many to achieve this effect. I have been inspired to add a whole new verse to our special nappy changing song (which is starting to resemble the Ring Cycle in length and complexity).
*sniffily* I shan't share it though, I'm afraid I felt rather judged in our previous thread on poo songs. On the exciting subject of poo, clementines are off the menu since I had to remove half a segment that got stuck on its journey out of my daughter's bottom. Nice. On a non-poo note, how about blueberry pancakes? This recipe looks rather nice and I reckon you could get away with using a lot less sugar. Re: Re: Re: Re: Blueberries

No - please share. I'm up for anything to aid the movement of poo & I reckon a poo song might be a handy weapon in the armoury!! If only to keep me amused and not sobbing about the state of Small's digestive tract.

Fidget has been cheerfully gobbling blueberries, strawberries, raspberries & blackberries from the beginning (screams when they run out!) However the last two days he point-blank refuses to eat blueberries, he won't even pick them up and looks at me like I'm trying to poison him!
Anyone else had this problem? Quokka Re: Re: Re: Blueberries

Strangely enough, we have hit a blueberry go-slow as well. Small has not yet rejected them completely but they are the last things to be attacked and she has pushed the bowl away before finishing them. The new-favouritist-thing-instead is grapes - can't get enough of them and its very annoying as grapes require Mum-intervention to prepare them. Grrr.....
I think Small has phases of things and the blueberry phase has just lasted longer then most. Given how often I have served them up she has probably just eventually got a bit bored! Trackbacks
