I'd be so grateful if you could have a look here and tell me what you want from a proper site when I am finally released from the bondage of this godawful blogware. I am not, as you may already have noticed, very technically adept so I'd appreciate absolutely as much help as I can possibly get. What do you want the chapters to be? What's actually important when you're starting off? Or even before? Thing is, because this was just a wee blog when it started, I've just grown it organically but now we need to do some, er, pruning...

Hi
Somewhere with all the sciency/ research bit for people like me who need 'evidence' about things!! Also things about the importance of milk during the first year (both BF and FF) - as so many of my friends were really anxious about their kids not eating enough teaspoons and I think that ethos is still a problem for lots of people. And then as already mentioned recipes that are searchable! Hope its ok to post here - I still can't get on the forum :( Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site

There is a file on the Yahoo Group I think was by Gill Rapley that goes into detail about BLW. That would be useful because not everyone is on the Yahoo Group.
Re: Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
gotcha. will do. although i think it's just the same guidelines as are on the dutch website on the right? i'll go and check.
Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site

Oh and some 'printer friendly' pages of info so we can print them out to give to sceptical HV, friends and relations. You know just sort of summarising the basic facts, research basis and evidence for BLW
Re: Re: Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
oh yes that's a great idea. will do. we can also do them in french and german... any other offers of translation gratefully appreciated.

How about a links page to make it easier for people to research BLW and a terminology page, especially to help out the Yankees that find us?
Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
your wish is my command. you know all those links are down on the right, though? actually i have a few more up my sleeve now that you mention it...

I really like the format of the following site:
http://moxie.blogs.com/askmoxie/ In brief, readers email Moxie (the site owner) with questions, Moxie posts her reply, and then opens the floor up to further replies and comments from other readers. Each post is tagged with relevant tags, and is filed for easy searching under relevant headings ("sleep", "weaning", "potty", etc). It is super easy to navigate -- I read it daily, but I also go back to research new issues as they arise, and have never had any problems finding the relevant posts. Re: Re: Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
i like that site too, cassie, she's really great, a deeply sensible woman.
i think we might just have to put the comments that already exist on my posts onto the main site and any conversation will continue onto the forum. (you know we have a forum, right? it's on the left, just there). because if i told you how many questions i got every day your hair might turn white... so it was one of the reasons i needed the support of everyone else to deal with things as they come up on the forum. A seperate "catch up" board would be good, no new posts, just some of the old ones from here that people can continue or use for reference.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
right, so you mena we should load some of the random thoughts 'threads' onto the forum? good idea, ta.

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, being a new user so I'm not suggesting improvements yet.
I just wanted to say how brilliant your site is already and how useful. I didn't plan to follow BLW but finding my 6 month old refuse all pureed stuff (can't blame him really - I didn't want to eat it and baby rice is DISGUSTING), I started trying BLW instead and he LOVES it. I was petrified about the gagging / choking thing (he does it several times a meal currently but we're only on the first week) and not sure what food to give him but after extensive perusal (where did that word come from?) of your site, I feel much more confident and it makes far more sense than fiddling about with a food processor. Thank you SO much! Oh, I tried to get rid of blogware in my favourites link but when I type in babyledweaning.com, it automatically adds blogware - I don't know why. Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
oh you are kind, thank you. don't worry, we'll be moving to a Proper Site soon so all our worries will cease on the blogware score...
come onto the forum and introduce yourself, will you? press 'CLICK NOW TO TALK TO OTHER BLW MUMS' on the left. Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site

Good morning
For the second year we have been shortlisted from approximately 3,000 nursery products and nominated for a Mother and Baby award to be held at the Hilton Hotel Park Lane London on the 29th November 2007, we won the silver award last year so we are hoping to achieve the gold award this year. We will let you all know on the 30th November. www.amby.co.uk Regards Angela Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
Angela, hi. not sure what prompted you to post that here but as it happens i had an amby for dd and LOVED it. i think i've been so evangelical about it that i've put a fair bit of business your way since then. good luck with the awards, it's a great product.

I think the colors need to be changed as its hard to read and its too bright. Also the design looks a little "plain".

Some introduction page on what BLW is and isnt. As far as i can see (in the micro second that my daughter will sleep for) it is just blogs which are hard to follow quickly. A summary would be good. My son loved puree but my daughter just wants to feed herself so have been offering finger stuff remembering a long lost NCT magazine article on baby led weaning and searched on google and found this. Maybe a "getting started" list of do's and don'ts (e.g. some stuff about size and shape of food offered)
Thanks Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site

Hi Fiona,
Aitch is busy on just such a summary... but until it's up and running on the interweb, come and join us on the forum instead (link is up there on the left-hand menu). Lots of people there to discuss chip-shaped pieces of roast sweet potato and so forth! :) Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site

I am a first time mum and was not known for my home made meals before he arrived!! Now he is 7 mths I was really struggling to bring variety to mealtimes beyond potato, veg and meat mushed in a bowl!! My health visitor recommended your site and I have to say it has really been fantastic for recipes. However I think it would be more user friendly if they were somehow divided into sections eg Main meals, light snacks, home baking, sutible 6-8 mth or 8 to 12 mth it would save valuble time trawling through them all.
Re: Re: Advice needed, please, to improve our site
ah-hah! go to www.babyledweaning.com, i think that's been done there. am a bit run off my feet right now with the two children etc etc but it's a bit better for layout.

I seem to be having a problem with the link. It only shows that it's loading, but nothing actually does load. Can someone direct me to the right link?
