Re: Re: Re: How does one broach the subject of BLW with a nursery, then?
by fibernie
The kippetje started 2.5 days at nursery at the beginning of the year, and food has been quite tough. They had never heard of a baby not being fed before, and really struggled to get used to it. I never used the term BLW because I thought it best explained in the simplest terms possible). Some days they'd proudly exclaim that she'd 'let us feed her!' and seem to think this was a huge developmental leap. It took some gentle persuading that her mum didn't think this was a step forward unless she was using the spoon herself! We eventually agreed on me keeping a food diary at home so I could show them the kind of things she eats. This worked well, and she now has a nap before lunch there, as we reckoned part of the reason for poor eating was more to do with being too tired! She's still the only one who feeds herself, and they love her because of it.... one parent came to look around the nursery and asked why they weren't feeding that little girl. They were very proud to say she managed fine without them thanks very much!
