I was chatting to someone at the weekend about contact allergies. She works with families with allergic children. She says many parents smear their childs face with vaseline (at least around the mouth) before they have certain foods. I guess if tomatoes were in lots of your meals/kids particularly liked them and there were no other symptoms, it might be worth a whirl.
