Re: Re: Problems with meat

that's interesting, isn't it Katy? because until very recently Euan wasn't eating hardly anything, was he, so the fact that has only very mild anaemia is actually pretty positive, i'd say. i personally think the iron thing is a bit over-wrought in this country. HVs talk about it like it's a tap that gets switched off at 6 months, whereas in fact if you're bfing it's a gradual fall and if you're using formula there's iron added. there's lots of interesting data on iron here, which basically appears to conclude that if you're bfing exclusively 'At some point toward the end of the first year, your baby will gradually begin to need more iron than that provided by breastmilk alone, so offer your baby foods naturally rich in iron and vitamin C as he begins to eat solids.' To the people who are starting off, it's not exactly reasonable to expect you to know in teaspoons what a non-spoonfed child is eating, nor is it even a particularly sensible question at this stage. that's great news about the gagging, it is a bit 'wow' but much better to let them get on with it and they'll learn all the faster. welcome to you both, by the way.
