Re: Fibernie's Guide To Meal Planning (so that we stop giving all of our money to supermarkets and Get Organised)
by Anonymous
This is my meal plan for next week. I have a one year old who doesn't eat potatoes and is not enthusiastic about rice, cheese, bread and vegetables. So I find I am making two 'cooked' meals a day (because sandwiches aren't a good option). We tend to be heavy on the pasta and tomato sauce side but I try to vary. I have just been out and bought 12 jars of tomato sauce, the Arrabiata, the plain, the one with ricotta, the one with meat. So that should make it feel like we are getting more variety. I also vary using 'normal' pasta and wholemeal pasta. I often use the snacks as extensions of the meal if LO is still wanting more and/or has not eaten a lot of the planned food. I pull out other stuff (within reason) until he starts showing no interest. MONDAY Muesli and plain yoghurt Yoghurt & apple juice drink Pasta with tomato sauce, peas and white fish filets Fruit 2-egg omelette with spinach in it Dried fruit TUESDAY Muesli and plain yoghurt Ovomaltine with milk Spicy vegetable-bean burgers Fruit Corn on the cob Cake or biscuit WEDNESDAY Muesli and plain yoghurt Yoghurt & apple juice drink Stewed apple with oats and sultanas Leftover corn on the cob Roast chicken (takeaway) with boiled broccoli (from frozen pack) THURSDAY Muesli and plain yoghurt Ovomaltine with milk Leftover roast chicken with broccoli in tomato sauce Fruit Pasta with mashed up tinned sardines Fruit and/or biscuit FRIDAY Muesli and plain yoghurt Yoghurt & apple juice drink Leftover pasta with grated cheese Fruit Meatballs with tomato sauce and mixed veg (from frozen pack) SATURDAY Muesli and plain yoghurt Ovomaltine with milk Onion bhajis (onion pancakes) Lentils (from tin) Fruit and/or biscuit Egg noodles with mixed veg (from frozen pack) flavoured with curry paste and creme fraiche Fruit and/or biscuit SUNDAY Muesli and plain yoghurt Yoghurt & apple juice drink 2-egg omelette with peas in it, cheese on top Fruit and/or biscuit Pasta with bolognese sauce with added peas or carrots Fruit ---- Snacks / dessert / meal filler-outer: Special K, bite-size Shreddies dried apricots, dried pears, prunes, dried apple rings, dried cranberries, sultanas pear, apple, nectarine, grapes, pineapple, melon, banana biscuits (baby biscuits, normal wholemeal-ish biscuits) bread and butter pitta filled with cheese and cut into strips cake (sometimes healthy stuff, sometimes not)
